I was asked to teach the techniques required to be an entry level technician in a trade in which I had worked for over twenty years, prior to becoming an instructor.
I really wanted to be able to help someone obtain a job in an interesting and demanding trade. I also hoped this would allow someone to be able to earn a living doing something that was useful to the community and fulfilling to those with technical inclinations.
Plenty of people seem to relish crushing dreams. I know more than a few people in my journey really seemed to enjoy crushing my hopes and dreams. But, I wanted to be one of the good guys. I wanted to help others actualize their dreams.
Mason Tudor
Academic Support Center Coordinator
As an alumnus of West Kentucky Vo-Tech I had such a positive experience, that when this job was posted I knew that this is where I want to work. The faculty and staff went above & beyond to help students achieve their goals. Like myself, most of the students were "non-traditional" and had other responsibilities to juggle as well as attend school full time. I wanted to become one of those staff members who helped the students reach their goal & begin a promising career. I have worked for other major employers in our region, but none have the high quality of leadership, community involvement, & standard of excellence as WKCTC.
I also am a community college product. The help that was given to me to gain higher knowledge I want to return to others. I teach because I love my occupation and my field. It excites me to see the student who doesn't know exactly what they want to do graduate and go to work with a smile and Thank you.
Working at WKCTC gives many opportuntities that would not necessarily be available working at another location. For instance, you get to surround yourself with a lot of positive and energetic people from the employees to the students. You also get to pursue your own educational goals as well as getting the opportunity to make a positive impact on someone else's life. You can not ask for more.
It started out as the only job I could find for a Bachelor's degree. In the position I have now, it is the best working environment I have ever been in or been around.
